What Keyboard Does Pengu Use?
Updated
Pengu, the Rainbow Six Siege content creator, is listed with a custom keyboard, and the Logitech G Pro X Keyboard has been in his history since September 2022 (49.4 months, 4.1 years). His name is also tied to a 2019 Keycult No.1/65 commission built for G2 Pengu.
Keycult No.1/65 commission vs the standard model
The board to know about is the Keycult No.1/65 commission built for G2 Pengu. It is a 2019 build. A typing-sound video of the commission and Trunk Records' 2019 mechanical keyboards release both describe it, and build listings say it is engraved with his name.
- Case and plate: aluminium case with an aluminium plate.
- Switches: Cherry MX Browns, lubed with Tribosys 3204.
- Keycaps: GMK ABS keycaps in the Modern Dolch colorway.
The name-engraved case is what makes this a commission rather than a board off the shelf. The aluminium case and plate with a lubed switch set are the parts worth looking at if you want to build something similar.
Switches and actuation
Trunk Records' 2019 listing of the Keycult build describes lubed Cherry MX Brown switches, and the typing-sound video of the commission shows the same Browns. These are not linear switches. This setup has no rapid trigger and no adjustable actuation point, so it works like a classic mechanical board rather than a modern gaming-focused magnetic one.
What changes the feel here is the lube and the build: Tribosys 3204 on the Browns, an aluminium plate and ABS keycaps. In Rainbow Six Siege, a game of small, deliberate movements, that mix gives a controlled, slightly cushioned keystroke rather than a hair-trigger one.
Should you buy Pengu's keyboard?
The commission itself was built for Pengu, so the practical question is what to copy from it. It suits someone who likes a solid aluminium case and a tactile, lubed switch, and who is happy with an ordinary mechanical keyboard instead of rapid trigger or adjustable actuation.
If you want that feel, look for these parts:
- an aluminium case and plate,
- Cherry MX Brown switches, lubed,
- ABS keycaps such as GMK sets.
If you prefer a ready-made keyboard, the Logitech G Pro X Keyboard has been part of his history since September 2022. If you need rapid trigger or a tunable actuation point, this Brown-switch build is not the way to get it.
