Switches and actuation

The Ducky One 2 Mini is sold with three Cherry MX options: Red, Brown and Blue. They feel quite different from each other, so it helps to know what each one offers.

The PCB is non-hotswappable, so the switches are fixed once you buy the board. Pick the type you want at purchase, because you can't swap it later without soldering.

Key binds

Zayt's Fortnite layout keeps most of the building on the left side of the board. Wall, stairs, trap, rotate and edit each have their own key on that side, and roof sits on L-Shift. That puts the whole build kit in reach of the left hand.

Crouch is on L-Ctrl and jump on Space Bar. The harvesting tool and the first weapon slots use the number keys 1 to 4, which are all still available on a 60% layout. The remaining two weapon slots go to V and Z.

Confirm Edit on Release is switched on, which means an edit is confirmed as soon as the edit key is let go.

Should you buy Zayt's keyboard?

The Ducky One 2 Mini suits anyone who wants a small 60% board and has the desk space to spare for the mouse. It has RGB and a choice of Cherry MX Red, Brown or Blue. The trade-off is the non-hotswappable PCB. If you aren't sure which switch feel you like, you can't experiment later.

Alternatives to consider:

If you want to change switches without soldering, the Pulsar and the Wooting are the better fits. If you want a straightforward classic Cherry MX 60%, the Ducky does the job.
