Switches and actuation
The Matrix x Symfuhny Keyboard is a 65% board with a hotswappable PCB and RGB. It is sold with four Gateron options: Blue, Brown, Red and Silver. Here is what each one means in practice:
- Gateron Blue: clicky. You get a tactile bump and an audible click, which makes it the loudest choice.
- Gateron Brown: tactile. There is a small bump on the way down but no click, so it is a quieter middle ground.
- Gateron Red: linear. It is smooth from top to bottom with no bump, and it is a common pick for fast, repeated key presses.
- Gateron Silver: also linear, but it is the option usually associated with a shorter, quicker press.
Because the PCB is hotswappable, you can pull the switches and try another type without soldering. If you are unsure which feel you like, you can start with one option and change later.
Key binds
The key binds on record are for Fortnite. They keep the main actions close together on the left side of the board. Crouch, jump and sprint sit on C, Space Bar and L-Shift. The harvesting tool is on 1, and the weapon slots run along the number row from 2 to 6.
The building keys are the most interesting part. Wall is on V, floor on Q, trap on T, rotate on R and edit on F, and Use is on E. Confirm Edit on Release is switched on. On a compact 65% layout these keys are all within easy reach, and the smaller footprint does not cost him any of them.

Should you buy Symfuhny's keyboard?
The Matrix x Symfuhny Keyboard suits anyone who wants a compact 65% board that is easy to customise. It is hotswappable, so you can try different Gateron switches, and it has RGB. It is currently available. The case is on the smaller side of the 65% options below, which helps if you want to keep desk space free.
If you want to compare, here is how three alternatives differ:
- Higround Basecamp 65HE: 1.5 cm longer, 3.9 cm wider and 0.9 cm taller. It uses magnetic switches and is hotswappable.
- VGN Flash 68: 0.8 cm longer, 4.9 cm wider and 0.7 cm taller. It also uses magnetic switches and is hotswappable.
- Razer Huntsman V3 HE Magnetic 65%: 0.7 cm longer, 2.6 cm wider and 0.7 cm taller. It uses Razer Hall Effect magnetic switches, and the PCB is not hotswappable.
The trade-off is that all three are bigger than Symfuhny's board and move to magnetic switches. The Razer also gives up hotswap, so you cannot change switches later.
