Switches and actuation
The Blackwidow TE is a TKL board fitted with Razer Green switches. It is non-hotswappable, so the switches are soldered to the PCB. Hiko can't swap them for a different type, and what he types on today is what the board shipped with. After roughly 49 months on the same keyboard, he clearly isn't chasing switch experiments.
The TKL layout drops the numpad. In a shooter like VALORANT that keeps the board compact, and everything he needs sits within easy reach of the left hand.
Key binds
His layout stays close to the defaults, and the table above lists every bind. Walk is on L-Shift and crouch on L-Ctrl, so the left pinky and ring finger handle movement modifiers. Use Object sits on F.
Weapon slots stay on 1, 2, 3 and 4, with the spike on 4, so the number row does the equipping. Abilities sit on C, Q, E and X (ultimate), all within a short stretch of the left hand. A board with a compact left side is all this setup needs.
| Group | Action | Key |
|---|---|---|
| All | Walk | L-Shift |
| All | Crouch | L-Ctrl |
| All | Jump | Mouse Wheel Down |
| All | Use Object | F |
| All | Equip Primary Weapon | 1 |
| All | Equip Secondary Weapon | 2 |
| All | Equip Melee Weapon | 3 |
| All | Equip Spike | 4 |
| All | Use/Equip Ability: 1 | C |
| All | Use/Equip Ability: 2 | Q |
| All | Use/Equip Ability: 3 | E |
| All | Use/Equip Ability: Ultimate | X |
Should you buy Hiko's keyboard?
The Blackwidow TE suits players who want a standard TKL shape: full-size keys, no numpad, and the Razer Green switch Hiko uses. The main catch is that it is non-hotswappable. If you don't like the switches, you can't change them without soldering.
The alternatives are all TKL as well, so the layout stays familiar. They differ in switches and PCB:
- Logitech G Pro X Keyboard: hotswappable, with GX Blue Clicky, GX Brown Tactile or GX Red Linear switches. It is the most flexible option if you want to change switches later.
- Logitech G Pro X TKL RAPID Black: uses optical switches and a non-hotswappable PCB.
- Logitech G715: offers GX Blue Clicky, GX Red Linear or GX Brown Tactile and is non-hotswappable.
If you want to copy Hiko's feel exactly, the Blackwidow TE is the board to look for. If you'd rather keep the option to change switches, the G Pro X is the one to look at.
