What Keyboard Does xQc Use?

xQc's keyboard history

xQc's two most recent boards are both SteelSeries tenkeyless models. When he changed in August 2023, he kept the brand and the compact TKL layout and only changed the model. His time with the Apex Pro TKL was under a year. The Apex 7 TKL Ghost has now lasted several times longer.

If you want to copy his Overwatch setup, the current board is the one to look at. The Apex Pro TKL is simply the previous step.

Switches and actuation

The Apex 7 TKL Ghost uses SteelSeries Red switches. The PCB is non-hotswappable, so the switches are soldered in. You can't pull them out and try another type, and the switch you buy is the switch you keep.

It has RGB lighting and a TKL footprint with no number pad. That leaves more desk space on the side where the mouse sits, which is a common reason players choose this layout for a game like Overwatch.

Should you buy xQc's keyboard?

A TKL board like this suits players who want the main keys and arrow cluster but not a number pad. It is a good fit if you like a wide, open mouse area, or if desk space is tight. If you need a number pad for work, a full-size board will suit you better.

The alternatives trade off in a few ways:

• Logitech G Pro X Keyboard: also TKL, but hotswappable. You can pick GX Blue Clicky, GX Brown Tactile or GX Red Linear, and change them later. It is the one to pick if you want to experiment with switches.
• Logitech G Pro X TKL RAPID Black: a TKL board with optical switches and a non-hotswappable PCB, so it is closer to xQc's board in that respect. The switch type is different, though.
• Logitech G715: TKL with the same three GX switch choices, but a non-hotswappable PCB. It is a little larger than the other boards listed here.

If you want the closest match to xQc, the Apex 7 TKL Ghost is the board to buy.
